Create an Aim

When you’re creating your fundraising project, the first and most important step is to decide on an aim. Aims make the world go round - they:

  • Help guide your decisions
  • Keep your team aligned on the same track
  • Help you understand how successful your event was
  • Set objectives - measurable mini-goals which help you get to the end aim.

Aims should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely.

For example, my Eco Club set a goal:

To fundraise £250 for the World Land Trust in November.

Specific You want to raise money for the World Land Trust.
Measurable You want to fundraise £250.
Attainable Depending on your circumstances, that’s likely a pretty realistic goal.
Relevant It is relevant to Eco Club’s mission to fundraise.
Timely It needs to be done within November - that’s something we can work towards.
